Watercolour Workshop

Service Description

The workshop takes place within the gallery and studio of Quote & Curate at Design Centre East, Chelsea Harbour, London. This is my working studio where I paint daily and affords a wonderful opportunity to paint in an inclusive and supporting space, either one to one or in a small group. The class runs for 90mins, includes all materials and light refreshments and covers the following areas; 1. Introduction to watercolour paint and papers. Watercolour has a rich pigment and varies considerably from other paints. We look at this variation and its unique attributes. We also consider the specific papers selected as our painting surface and I share a little more detail on how the choice of paper impacts the outcomes of the painting. 2. Considering composition. We will be painting a landscape in this class and the first decision is around composition and how to compose your painting, I will guide you through the considerations. 3. Mark-making, brushstrokes and practicing control of the watercolour. This is an opportunity to get a feel of the brushes and loading your brush to control the paint. We will look at the process of mark-making within painting and the techniques deployed to create effects. 4. Producing a landscape painting in the medium of watercolour. I will work one to one with you on guided techniques to enable you to complete a finished watercolour landscape. We will work at your pace if you are a novice, and if you are further developed in your practice I will support you on refinements and working through colour palette as well as scale. You will be delighted and how much can be achieved within the workshop and I promise you will feel uplifted at the end of the class and hopefully inspired to keep painting.
